Hi. I am back at this blog after a three-week hiatus.
At first, I took a break from blogging because the folks who run this server informed me that it had been corrupted and they had to move everything. They told me to stop blogging. But they never told me to start blogging once everything was ready to go again. So when I finally asked and they told me I could have been blogging all along, I was pretty angry.
But so it goes. The Dude abides.
Anyway, we have a lot to catch up on. Google has been up a lot of stuff, not least of which is the new browser. And there is much other news.
But first, let me announce that from now on this blog will be my only active blog. I am suspending my regular, better- known blog, Sivacracy.net
There are many reasons for this. And I will elaborate on them on a farewell post over on Sivacracy. But please allow me to thank the folks at the Institute for the Future of the Book for agreeing to sponsor my blogs. And I must thank all of the Sivacracy contributors over the years -- both authors and commenters. I must specially thank Ann Bartow for all the fun stuff and extra work she put into Sivacracy. I suspect most of the readers of that blog came to read her stuff anyway.
I will not take down Sivacracy. It will remain up as a record of some remarkable conversations we have had over the past five years. And I might start it up again in the future.
But mostly, I want to concentrate on this blog and the book it will become. Sivacracy is a fox. The Googlization of Everything is a hedgehog. And you can't put lipstick on a fox and call it a hedgehog ... or something like that.
As far as the book itself, it is rolling along. I have a brand-new outline and organizational scheme. I must submit the manuscript by December to ensure it is published by this time next year. So my life is pretty much this project and this project alone.
As many of you know, I am passionate and concerned about the pending election in the United States. That does affect my daily mood and my level of activity. And that's another reason why I want to ride the hedgehog instead of the fox.
So, thanks for being patient with me.
And now, back to the Googlization of Everything.
