How will this level of customization affect how we learn things?
Preferences: Preferred sites
About preferred sitesThe preferred sites feature lets you set your Google Web Search preferences so that your search results match your unique tastes and needs. Fill in the sites you rely on the most, and results from your preferred sites will show up more often when they're relevant to your search query.
Here are some ways you can use preferred sites:
* Add sites you trust for certain types of information, for example Rotten Tomatoes for movie reviews or ESPN.com for sports scores.
* Add local sites for news that's more relevant to you, for example the Honolulu Star Bulletin if you live in Hawaii.
* Add a favorite blog, like TechCrunch for tech news.Preferred sites is currently an experimental feature, and we're very interested in user feedback. If you have ideas about how to improve the feature, please let us know by posting in the Preferred Sites Discussion Group.
The preferred sites feature only affects you while you're signed in to your Google Account. No one else sees your customized search results or what you've marked as your preferred sites.
Enabling preferred sitesYou have to be signed in to your Google Account to use preferred sites. Once you are, you can edit your preferred sites at the bottom of the Google Preferences page, which you can access by clicking the Preferences link next to the search box on Google.com. We use your Web History and other information from your Google Account to suggest sites we think you might like to include; you can select from these suggestions or enter the URLs of any other sites. When you're done editing your preferred sites, be sure to save your preferences.
Once you've added preferred sites, you'll see the label 'My preferred site' next to results from these sites in your search results.

You can be as specific as you like when adding preferred sites. For example, you can add the entire CNN site at http://www.cnn.com as a preferred site, or you can add http://money.cnn.com and http://weather.cnn.com to specifically add CNN's business and weather sites.
Removing preferred sitesTo remove a site from your list of preferred sites, click the Remove link next to the site's URL on the Google Preferences page. Then, save your preferences.
